INDEPENDENT travel website www.asiahotels.com, in association with six top resorts in Asia and SCMP.com, has launched a search for the best beaches in the Asia Pacific.

Users who vote for their favorite beach in the region through the website automaticallly get a chance to win complimentary nights at the Datai, Tanjung Rhu Resort and Pelangi Beach in Langkawi, Malaysia. Other prizes include free stays at the Pangkor Laut Resort in Malaysia; Friday's Beach Resort in Boracay Philippines; Tanjong Jara Resort in East Malaysia; and Mutiera Beach Resort in Penang. One lucky voter will also get his/her round-trip flight paid for.

Whitehaven in the Whitesundays, Australia, is the top pick of the editors at asia-hotels.com. Other picks are any beach in the Maldives; White Beach in Boracay, Philippines; Fraser Island in Queensland; and Emerald Bay on Pangkor Laut.
