Rent your own car to get around the island. It's easy to get around and a better deal for your money. The Barn Thai restaurant is wonderful if you have the time. The Beach Garden Resort has great food and large servings too!

For Langkawi, I have some suggestion as follows: 1. Must rent a car , since langkawi is a quite big island, from A point to B point sometime will take you 20 - 30 minutes/by car. I can't imagine the time you waste if you take bicycle or motorcycle. 2. Must go Oriental Village - to take the cable car to the top of the mountain. Good view. 3. Mangrove tour, rent a boat was Rm 160 for maximum 6 persons. Worth to see it. 4. Buy a Langkawi map before you start your journey.
5. Waterworld - RM 18 for adult. Very near to the hotels which located in Pantai Cenang. 6. Seven wells waterfall, alas - if you like hiking , you can try it, otherwise, pls. don't go there because if you take you at least 1 hour to see the waterfall. 7. Makam Mahsuri cemetery - so so only. 8. Book Village - nothing to see, disappointing!! All in all, 4 days 3 nights or 3 days 2 nights is enough for the Langkawi tour.

Langkawi offers good value for money. Even the expensive places are relatively affordable. We would suggest renting a car at the airport to explore the island with. The duty free shopping wasn't all it was cracked up to be in our opinion. A few nice little shops in Kuah, but the prices of electronics weren't any better than an electronics superstore in Canada, we found. Water and beaches were amazing in Cenang.

Good spot. Fabulous restaurant just next door. Did a Marine Reserve Tour (booked at the airport on arrival) which was great. Also did the Canopy Adventure which was awesome - brochures at reception.

Langkawi is essentially relaxing by the beach.
The rest of the attractions are quite average. Highly recommended is the Orkid Ria seafood restaurant - one could return a few times to work through the menu!

The area is one of the best, because there are several restaurants outside, at the Tengah beach and also at the Cengah Beach, you can rent bikes and motorbikes everywhere outside for cheap price (motorbike for 25 RM/day at the AB Motel, bikes 15 RM/day). The restaurants in this area are nearly cheap and you can choose between all of the asian restaurants. The Sunflower restaurant outside of the Langkawi Village restaurant has a good malaysian kitchen!

Langkawi was a delightful place to visit. The hotel was conveniently situated to allow access to a maximum of leisure facilities, while taxis provided quick (and reasonably priced) access to the island's more distant attractions. I recommend The Lighthouse on Pantai Tengah for dinner at sunset.

The mangrove tour was excellent if you like nature. There are not many places left in the world where you can actually see wildlife in the raw... but I was able to see otters, hawks, mud-skipping fish, monitor lizards, bats, and of course lots of monkeys.

Stayed at Rebak Marina Resort for first two nites. Beautiful room and relaxing surroundings. Not too many people. Nice pool and beach view. Rent a car for easy getting around on the mainland. Langkawi is quite small. Places worth visiting : Gunung Raya Hill, Cable car ride (nice view from top), Tg Rhu Beach, Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall.
