The northern beach, Tanjung Rhu, was the nicest beach. There are limestone islets which is a backdrop to a remote and quiet beach which makes for a stunning view and wonderful experience.

The cable car was a great experience, especially on a clear day. You can see to Thailand (technically, just the next island further north) as well as surrounding islands. It was quite impressive and a wonderful view. Oceanworld was a hit with my daughters. It was quite well done and they were excited to see Nemo and Dory and few of his friends from the movie.

Fish farm is a very nice place to have fresh sea food. It's very cheap and easy to rent a good car in the airport. It took me only 100RM/27US$ for one Nissan daily rent and limited insurance.

Good restaurants to go to are: Sunflower and Bon Ton. Under no circumstances should you use Coral Reef Dive Tours - they couldn't organise themselves out of a paper bag.

Langkawi is one of our favourite destinations. We try to make as many trips as our job allows. Our favourite place to eat is The Beach Garden, always great food at a fantastic price. Another is T-Jays formerly Jezebels. Both are within easy walking distance from the Village Hotel.

The activities were outstanding. There was so much to do to keep one busy in the resort from mountain biking, trekking, sailing, mangrove trip to renting a car to drive around the island. Absolutely wonderful experience.

The "Rasa" restaurant opposite Casa Del Mar hotel in Cenang Beach area (not seaview) is delicious and reasonably priced but NO alcohol served there. The Casa Del Mar itself is WONDERFUL with GREAT mediterranean food and extremely reasonable with the Chef's tasting menu at only RM88 per person if one is to compare with other places in Langkawi with the same options. HIGHLY recommend Casa Del Mar and we are definitely highly discerning foodies!!

If you love good food, the all-inclusive option allows you to feast on top quality food at your leisure without having to worry about how your stomach will feel when you settle your bill at the end of your stay. We made good use of the offerings at all three restaurants, poolside dining facilities, reading room, and room service.

We took full advantage of the watersports equipment including kayaks, hydro bikes, and catamarans. The resort also arranges fascinating tours of the island. On one trip, we took a boat tour through the mangrove, fed eagles, and explored caverns. The nature walk through a vast section of the island owned by the resort (hence the 1100 acres claimed by the resort)was fun and educational. Biking to the waterfall was a great experience, though it left both of us exhausted at the end.

The Jiva Rhu spa is extraordinary. My wife and I enjoyed two spa sessions (one 1-hour massage and one 4-hour treatment) together and both were outstanding. Prices are actually quite reasonable given the quality of the treatment and the spa environment. It was a wonderful experience, and we hope to go back someday in the not too distant future.

Cable car worth a visit, fantastic views. Public beach on road out to the Datai was excellent, lots of local families and a wonderful, relaxed atmosphere. Night market along canal in Kuah on Saturday nights is great, marvellous food, bargains galore, and very atmospheric. Eat as much as possible at the hawker stalls, in our experience they were cheaper, tastier, and what the travel thing should be all about.

I stayed two nights in Langkawi. A very laid-back place that I would like to visit again. The view from the top of the cable car station is splendid. Seven wells waterfall which is nearby is worth the climb of almost 700 steps to the top. You can take out Underwater world from your itinerary if you do not have the time and have seen the Underwater World in Sentosa, Singapore. Hiring a car is the most comfortable way of travelling round the island.

My 7th time in Langkawi. I fell in love with this island when I first visited there over 3 years ago. Not much to do there but I just love being there, walking around, finding something new, meeting local people, tasting local food etc. There are many restaurants that I would recommend – this time I tried “Orchid Ria” seafood restaurant in Pantai Cenang. They were busy with both locals and tourists, which is a good sign. Reasonable, yet delicious and fast! If you miss Western food, "Red Tomato" in Pantai Cenang would be the place. Owned by a Malaysian who is married to an Italian lady, the place serves fresh-from-the-oven bread, pizza, pasta, deserts, coffee etc. - lovely.

This time I took a PADI scuba diving course and successfully became a certified diver. If any of you ever considers taking diving courses or joining tours, drop me a line - I know the right person to contact!
